Taco Bell Cheesy Double Decker Taco Review

I have a strange sense of nostalgia when it comes to the Double Decker Taco. A quick Google search brought me to a wiki awesomely dedicated solely to Taco Bell products. The original Double Decker taco was placed around a 1996 release date. Like most people writing fast food taco reviews on the internet, or about 90% of reddit nowadays, the ’90s would firmly plant me in my childhood. During the days of Hey Arnold!, KaBlam! and Ahhh!!! Real Monsters, I would occasionally be found smothering the latest in taco-vention in Taco Bell’s mild sauce. Man, I love that stuff. But apparently not as much as Nickelodeon loved to add exclamation points on to all of their shows.

When the Double Decker Taco first came out it was one of those, “That’s so simple, why didn’t I think of that?” kind of thing. This time around, as if refried beans weren’t already the perfect food-grade glue, they put in plenty of liquid cheese, so it doesn’t fall apart and end up becoming a sub-par bean burrito and a plain crunchy taco. Honestly I don’t think that’s there’s a bigger food-related disaster than the contents of a taco or burrito falling out. But with that being said, I’ve also been lucky enough to never have had hot soup spilled on me.

I hate to be the one making a bad pun, but adding cheese to this taco was, well, cheesy. Part of me is extremely tired of Taco Bell just trying to reinvent the wheel on the off months where they don’t actually try a new style item. Yet the other half of me is excited that they took one of my favorite Taco Bell items and added one of the few things that’s only guaranteed to make it taste better. The cheese makes it just marginally better tasting than the classic Double Decker, yet since it’s a featured item they dropped the price from $1.29 down to $.89 for the promotion. And if there’s anything you can do to food to make it taste better without changing the recipe, it’s making it cost less. It’s funny how if Spielberg goes back and slightly changes E.T. it ruins it for me, but Taco Bell can change one of their classics and send me into even more nostalga.

Wendy's Cheesy Cheddar Burger Review

Wendy’s Cheesy Cheddar Burger

There are a lot of things you can do with a burger, but arguably one of the best is to add cheese. Not plain old American cheese, but Cheddar. Wendy's has made the attempt, but did they cheese it up right?

Snyder’s of Hanover Three Cheese Medley Nibblers

Snyder's of Hanover claims to be America's Pretzel Bakery since 1909. I don't know about that, but they've been mine since about 2007. I tried out their new Three Cheese Medley Sourdough Nibblers.

Arby's Angus Deli Cool Wrap Review

Arby’s Angus Cool Deli Wrap

Arby's is different; while all the other fast food chains chase the dollar menu dream, this restaurant guy is in it for the big bucks. The question is whether or not the Angus Cool Deli Wrap is worth 3 McDoubles and 3 BK Stackers.
