It all started back during the first week of January when I was handed a sheet from my store manager containing this months promotions. Busy with my work, I carelessly skimmed the list. It contained all the usuals, $1.99 happy meals, $.99 cent 6 piece nuggets and so and on so forth, until I reached the last few lines and the words Chipotle BBQ Bacon Angus jumped out at me. I dropped what I was doing and tried to find someone with an answer, but no one had any idea what it was. Alas, I got tied up with work and lost the paper.
The week of the 17th (depends on if your weeks start on Sundays or Mondays, mine start on Mondays so you’re just going to have to deal with it) rolled around, and my box of promotional materials arrived. I was ecstatic as a little girl finding out she was going to be a sister because her mother was pregnant. I tore open the box of gifts from the McDonald’s gods and began to flip through everything. That’s when I got my first look at the newest addition to the menu. After getting out of work I called up my pal Brad over at WRS Studios and let him in on the insider information.
Flashing back to yesterday (or the 25th if you aren’t reading this on the day I wrote it) I get out of class and I receive a voicemail from a slightly miffed Brad. “Hey dude, I just went up to McD’s and they just told me that no they don’t have that and they can’t give me it so I don’t know what the hell is going on.” The signs should have gone up in the morning. I was ensured that they would. The soft sell had already begun and nobody knew anything. It was time to take matters into my own hands.
I swept up my gal and headed straight for the store. Well not exactly straight there, I made a quick stop at another McDonald’s. We sat down to enjoy the new Chipotle BBQ Bacon Angus Snack wrap. I opened the foil wrapper to reveal a fresh flour tortilla shell packed with a sweet, smokey and tangy chipotle, a slice of bacon, a couple of crinkle cut pickles, a few rings of red onion, a slice of American cheese, and of course a half cut of McDonald’s angus meat with the secret seasoning on it. When I bit into it I knew it was something different. The taste was good, but nothing out of this world. They had only previously used the chipotle sauce on just the chicken snack wraps, though, so this was a nice change. The only real difference between this and the Bacon Angus and Cheese wrap is the lack of ketchup and mustard, and the addition of Chipotle BBQ sauce. I’m guessing not a whole lot of thought went into the new wrap/sandwich.
When I arrived at my store, somehow or another I was dressed in the appropriate McDonald’s attire and went straight to work, tearing down the old signs, inside and out, and replacing them with new ones that pictured the Chipotle BBQ Bacon Angus sandwich in a way you only wish you could get it. Once I get everything hung up I kick it into high gear and teach the kitchen staff how to make the sandwich correctly so there will be no confusion when they see that first one pop up on their monitor. Next I’m off the drive thru team, quickly telling them a little bit about the sandwich, while interrupting their order-taking, I show them where the two cleverly placed buttons are located. Last but not least I head in the direction of the front counter and give everyone the same information. My work here is done. I treat my girl to a chocolate shake and head home.
Now lets fast forward to today. I have just finished cleaning the ice cream machine and its time now to treat myself to a break. “What does ol’ Johnny want today?” I pondered to myself sarcastically. No brainer, the New Chipotle BBQ Angus Burger. It’s a bit different from the wrap because of the fact that it comes on a bun and you get a full piece of meat. Along with one extra pickle and red onion ring, two more strips of delicious bacon and sauce on the bottom bun, as well. After taking that first bite I sort of went into a trance. I devoured the whole thing. It is one of the better tasting burgers at McDonald’s and I just wanted that flavor to hang around for a while. I thought about getting another one, but then I remembered about the nutritional facts on all the other Angus burgers and decided one was plenty for me.
The Chipotle BBQ Angus is something different if you are tired of the same-old, same-old. It’s not the best thing I have ever had in my mouth, but it is by far not the worst (Ed. Note: That’s what she said). Give it a try. It is around for only a limited time, most likely for the month of February. No word as of right now if it will stick around for good. Only time will tell. That or the sales reports.

wow it looks weird i work at mcdonalds and how ever made i put the wrong type or pickles on it also they dident put enough bacon lol. =)
They had run out of Angus pickles the day before which made me a little ticked. my store finally figured out how to assemble it properly, a week after it came out, i mean no ones perfect. They kept forgetting the chipotle sauce on the heel of the bun.
