McDonald’s Pumpkin Pie

McDonald's Pumpkin Pie
Who’s ready for the holiday season? Yeah that’s right, I’m already bringing up those words again. It seems like just yesterday it was that time of the year. Well to kick it off, McDonald’s has put out its seasonal pumpkin pies.

While rushing around my store to find promotional signs for the pies (pumpkin pie shakes are available also), I was trying to put a batch into the oven because I was overly excited to try one of these babies. I warned everyone the store would smell festive and did it. After rushing around like a mad man putting signs here and there, and taking a few orders, “Hi my name’s John, How may I help you blah blah blah,” it was finally time for me to go on break.

I get up to the register to place my order, well deserved from all my hard work I’ve done so far today. I threw out one of the usual meals I get, then I surprised the hell out of the girl by throwing two pies on to my order, but not just any pies, pumpkin pies! She was like whaa? we got pumpkin pies? She’s about one fry short of a happy meal. I said “Yeah of course we do, it’s the holiday season now, it’s October 1st.”

I headed off to the designated eating place for the employees and what do you think was the first thing I went for? Let’s just say it wasn’t the hash brown. It was that freshly baked, smells-like-my-mom-makes-’em pumpkin pies. I offer some to other people in the room before actually trying it for myself, couldn’t tell you why. Either because I was excited, or because I was scared that McDonald’s could mess up something as simple as a pumpkin pie.

But they didn’t. They were everything I wanted and more, except for whipped cream, which would have made it even better. The pies come baked in the same kind of crust as the apple pies but with orange pumpkin-ness inside instead of apples and glaze. They tasted like a full sized pumpkin pie my mother would make on thanksgiving. It’s hard to describe the flavor, it’s pumpkin pie for pete’s sake. I mean I could scan my ma’s recipe and put the picture next to this, but that might be going a little too far.

Everyone enjoyed the pies. I tried to find the nutritional facts on them in the store, but they are nowhere to be found, which didn’t surprise me. I’ve heard anywhere from 240-320 for calories. Anyway, it’s that time of year. You shouldn’t be nitpicking about that kind of stuff. Around these parts they are 2 for a dollar, or one for 99 cents (Ed. note: No, you did not read that wrong). You can even get one of each, an apple and a pumpkin, if you’re scared you might not like it, or if you fancy both.

After decades of potato chip-ery, you'd think that we'd be beyond the era of BBQ. Not so! says Frito-Lay. Ruffles' Smokehouse Style BBQ chips may not necessarily taste new, but the bag says otherwise. Find out what Kaitis thinks.

Wendy's Cheesy Cheddar Burger Review

Wendy’s Cheesy Cheddar Burger

There are a lot of things you can do with a burger, but arguably one of the best is to add cheese. Not plain old American cheese, but Cheddar. Wendy's has made the attempt, but did they cheese it up right?

Snyder’s of Hanover Three Cheese Medley Nibblers

Snyder's of Hanover claims to be America's Pretzel Bakery since 1909. I don't know about that, but they've been mine since about 2007. I tried out their new Three Cheese Medley Sourdough Nibblers.

  1. I'm eating one right now! They are good!

  2. I really didn't like them, but then again McDonalds is usually awful.

Those pies are so damn good. I thought it would be weird at first but now I’m hooked and of course they are no where to be found. I need those pies…..
