Domino's Wisconsin Six Cheese Pizza

Domino’s has been sitting atop a series of successes as far as new items go: they had their line of American Legends, which included the Pacific Veggie pizza, the Cali Chicken Bacon pizza, and the Memphis BBQ pizza, amongst a few others; they had their Breadbowl Pastas, which were adequately priced and tasted great, aside from being a carb suicide; they had the Chocolate Lava Crunch Cake, which was tiny but delicious when it came for free with a Breadbowl Pasta; lastly, they revamped their pizza recipe and it’s over 9000 times better than it used to be.

So Domino’s batting average is sitting pretty right now. What better next step for them to make than a pizza with an insane amount of cheese? The Wisconsin Six Cheese is a beast of a ‘za that sports a sweater made of mozzarella, cheddar, provolone, parmesan, feta, and asiago cheese. That’s one sweater I’d like to receive from Grandma on Christmas. It’s curious to call it the Wisconsin Six Cheese pizza, though, when none of the cheeses on the pizza originated anywhere near Wisconsin, and the state is only known for one of them. Also, man, Italy is a monster at cheese.

Now, with that much cheese you might expect the top of the pizza to be some sort of boiling, bubbling vat of ooziness. And you’d be right! Really, though, this pizza has only slightly more cheese than a normal pizza. Enough to be thicker than the crust that supports it; however, Kaitis thought the dough was thinner than it should be, and the picture on Domino’s website (shown above) certainly makes it look thicker than what we got. Tastewise (my favorite direction), this thing contains a broad variety of flavors, donated by some of the most flavorful cheeses out there. The mozzarella’s rather at home, but the provolone gives it a deep smokey flavor, the cheddar gives it a delightful tang, the parmesan adds a pungent air to the affair, and the asiago practically makes it taste like some bread from Panera or Subway, an artisanal flavor. The outlier is the feta, which as most people know, doesn’t really melt. So besides just adding a flavor, it imbues the pizza with a sporadic salty blast of chunkiness that really adds to the texture of the item.

All in all, the Wisconsin Six Cheese is a great pizza. It’s not mind blowing, but it’s a bit different from the standard fare, depending on what you usually order. Since it’s a specialty pizza, you can’t get them for that 2 medium pizza for $5 each deal, but you can get two medium Wisconsin Six Cheese pizzas for $8 each, which still would’ve been cheaper than the $18 extra large that I foolishly purchased. Any way you slice it, this pizza is definitely one for the hardcore cheese fans, myself included. If you’re some sort of cheese nazi like Mason, then grow up, Sally. I mean — you probably won’t like this. Either way, Domino’s continues their (infrequent) hot streak with another widely accessible, yet niche menu addition. I, for one, salute them in their quest to out-cheese the competition.

  1. I use to hate Dominos Pizza. After they recently changed their recipe I have become a huge fan. I will have to check out this one. Great review.

  2. looks like I'm gonna be constipated lol.

  3. I used to really enjoy Dominos pizza as a treat every once in a while, but now that they've changed their recipe I hate it. I'll stick to Papa Johns and the local guys.

  4. once again i have nothing good to say about this company and the food tell me this i thought the cardboard was supposed to b on the outside and the food inside id rather eat the box

  5. I'm a huge cheese lover but I think there is definitely a point where you've gone too far. Haven't tried this but…it looks like it's crossed that line. Found this review through TIB

  6. Domino's pizza used to be edible, but after they recently changed their recipe I never order it. In fact it made me sick. What the hell is 100% mozzarella (provolone flavored)cheese? Eiter it is 100% mozzarella or not. Has ayone heard that they got bailout money only if they used government cheese? This oddly coinsides with their recently changed recipe

  7. Ha Ha! I live in Wisconsin, and honestly ALL the people I've talked from other states have never actually tasted the goodness of cheese from Wisconsin, unless they're here for a Packer game…at least where I live, I cannot count the number of times I've been asked the question, "Where can we get some cheese curds?". Yes, the cheese is shipped to different states, but the only real way to get a "Wisconsin 6 Cheese pizza" is to live in Wisconsin and make your own at home :D – Oh well that's life.
