If you didn’t think Glacéau were a bunch of hipsters let me point you first to the Myspace themed Vitamin Water, then in the direction of this new Facebook themed drink. It doesn’t make much sense to me to have the official Facebook drink be something that doesn’t mix well with cheap vodka. Ocean Spray (or generic equivalent) Cran-Grape really seems to make more sense. Or, you know, whatever beer you can get the most of for the least amount of money. Natural Light, bro? Honestly though, I’d rather drink vodka sans juice or warm Natty Light after spending a day plowing my fields in Farmville than this new Vitamin Water. And fuck no, I don’t play Farmville.

Normally cherry-lime is a really good combination, just ask anyone who’s had Sonic’s famous drink. Unfortunately and disappointingly they messed this flavor up good. While it smells half like cough syrup and half like kool-aid, it retained a mostly medicine like taste. Although not as badly when it’s chilled. The first time I tried this drink I has the displeasure of trying it warm. Yuck. I also realize it’s typical to compare a bad drink to cough syrup, but it really reminds me of that. It also has a slick feel to it that only worsens the cough syrup comparisons. My only other frame of reference for black cherry taste is the soda, and it doesn’t remind me of that at all. The sharper taste of the black cherry also seems to counteract with the sharpness of the lime, making the drink more bitter than I was expecting it to taste. It really doesn’t taste right at all if you’re even somewhat expecting a Sonic-like flavor like I was. I like a lot of Vitamin Water flavors, but this just isn’t one of them. The MySpace flavor was much better than this one was, and I can only hope the inevitable Twitter water will be much better than this.
