Invincible Orange Slurpee

Sure, like half of the time I review a food or drink I criticize the name, but this one takes the cake. Calling a Slurpee invincible is akin to calling anything made of glass falling to the ground the same. In fact this extremely vulnerable drink is reduced to its mortality just by 2-4 hours of sitting in the open air (even the War of the Worlds aliens lasted longer than that). Air isn’t even that tough of an opponent, except for when it’s not around. Then it’s kind of a bitch. Us humans don’t even claim to be invincible, and we’re not the ones reduced to mush after a few minutes under a blow dryer. I, for one, know that I look better If I use one, while the same can’t be said for my icy friend.

The flavor itself is called “Orange Float”, so of course it still has that very familiar orange Creamsicle taste. The main difference lies in the fact that it’s a flavor made by Sunkist. The cream takes much more of a backseat to the Orange, which has an undeniably bolder taste than the popsicle equivalent. I would even go as far as saying that if you mixed a Sunkist soda and about a scoop vanilla ice cream, you would probably be really close to this flavor. Usually I don’t even like Orange and Cream, but the way they used less vanilla made me enjoy this blend as opposed to hating it per usual. And for some reason I can’t quite put my finger on, I thought it was more of a refreshing drink than most Slurpees. I’d like to know if anyone else thought that.

By the time I finished a whole cup of the drink (which is another way it’s not so invincible), I was kind of sick at how there’s not a whole lot going on. I think It would bore me to death if I had another Slurpee with just this in my cup. It does deserve to be thrown in between some other good fruity flavors, though. Some Slurpees can qualify as flavors that can stand on their own, but this one is a must mix, which is really a perfect metaphor for the score it’s getting. It’s not so bad that you don’t want to drink it, but it’s not so good that it’s all you should drink. It’s just somewhere in the middle.
