Introducing Wendy’s new Bacon and Blue burger! After having to try the sandwich a half of a half dozen times just to get it right, the saying “the third time’s a charm” really turned out to be true. The first time it came with American cheese on it. I’m not complaining about this free add-on, it just made the sandwich a bit more interesting. The second drive by, someone, not saying who, ran out of the delicious applewood smoked bacon and decided to throw some of that flavorless flimsy pork fat onto my burger. So, I went back today for numero tres and tried a different Wendy’s. After paying an outrageous $4.59 for the now properly assembled sandwich, our story begins.
Devouring this wonderful sandwich would make anyone’s stomach delighted, unless you’re a cow, pig, or veg(itari)an, I guess. This is the first premium sandwich from Wendy’s that I’ve enjoyed in a while. Topped with tomatoes, lettuce, four strips of the amazing crispy applewood smoked bacon, creamy steakhouse spread, some delicious seasoned sauteed onions and last but certainly not least, the blue cheese crumbles that I love so very, very much, the hamburger patty was fresh tasting and very juicy unlike some of Wendy’s other meats that seem to sit around all day and dry out. The sandwich as a whole tasted like nothing my palette has ever enjoyed.
I wouldn’t call it the healthiest sandwich in the world, coming in with 680 calories, 40g of fat, 130mg of cholesterol, and a whopping 1390mg of sodium, although it does have 37g of protein. Man, is it tasty though. I went around to the other fast food joints to see if I could find any other sandwiches with blue cheese on them, but all I came out with was with a Bacon and Bleu Roastburger from Arby’s. And can I say it is less than below average for a blue cheese sandwich? It’s just a spread; what is with that?
Wendy’s has created a sandwich that is very unique in the fast food world and would most likely make their founder Dave Thomas proud of them finally since his passing in 2002. I honestly believe that no other fast food restaurant has even attempted to create anything worthwhile involving blue cheese, and I give credit to Wendy’s for doing so.

Just a quick correction for you — there is no way this burger weighs in at a mere 360 calories. Might want to check your math there. I only know this because I've consumed Wendys' burgers with fewer ingredients and more calories.
This is the second positive review I've seen. One note though, I think it's quite a bit higher than 360 calories
Statistics online vary; I believe he got that one from DietFacts.com, which does report it as having 360 calories, but I'm more inclined to believe the other figure that's floating around, which is 680. I'll change it.
Alright, I see what happened. I guess he mistook FAT calories for total calories. Oops. Fixed.
I was less impressed with this burger than the reviewer was. Mine came with a single lettuce leaf which had wilted to transparency from the heat of the burger, and no tomato or any condiments I could detect. Unfortunately, fast food ground beef just can't stand up to the taste test under those circumstances, even with the blue cheese and grilled onion. And the calorie count I saw elsewhere was 630.
I thought the burger was delicious albeit so small it was hardly worth the price. I felt like I was eating a white castle burger. Maybe it was just my particular Wendy's but the price to size ratio, I won't be having it again.
I love the burger and have eaten approximately one/month for last 6 months. It tastes really good – as good as a gourmet burger at a restaurant for $8.However, I can't have another one now that I know it is 630 calories and 40g of fat. I was getting fries with the meal too!No wonder my weight has been inching back up – and I was ordering a Diet Coke with the meals?! Why bother?! If I had been the clerk taking my order I would have giggled at the Diet Coke!Oh well…back to cardboard and water….
i know this is a old article, but i absolutely hate this sammich. First of all, as a fit and strong male, this was the first thing ive ever ate that made me feel like i was getting fatter (besides brazilian steakhouses, but atleast those are awesome.) Second, the bleu cheese is the worst part, maybe because its not exactly my favorite thing, but i like it on salad. The flavour is just too strong, almost rancid tasting, wayyyyy too much bleu cheese. And lastly, wendys never had good burgers in the first place, so i wouldnt expect for the meat to redeem this. I know that john hay gave this a 6 out of 7, but before you get it seeking instant gratification, be warned, its a pretty select taste.
Very true, but that's kind of the nature of blue cheese
