Holy hell, Mouse Rat sounded like a band I would listen to in this last episode. Maybe Andy will turn over a new leaf and decide that the oldies covers weren’t all that bad. He even got Ann a little jealous, so it looks like things are working out for him. Though, it looks like he may be a little more interested in April at this point, which created a tension that might place Andy in a very win-win situation. So what does that mean for Brendanawicz? Ann seems pretty unsure, but we’ll see. I guess we can thank Valentine’s Day for the misery (almost) everyone’s feeling; that’s how it works right?
In the spirit of the holiday, Leslie becomes determined (alongside Justin) to reunite her mother with a lifeguard that saved her while she was on vacation many years ago. To Leslie this story makes “The Notebook look like Saw 5“. Eventually, though, Justin just gets way too into the whole situation, which makes Leslie realize that Justin is a “tourist” who “vacations in peoples’ lives.” (Ed. Note: with a little help from Ron, I might add… anyone else think Ron’s into Leslie?) This upsets Tom more than it does Leslie. Hilariously, Justin assures him in a fatherly way that it’s not Tom’s fault and that they can still go suit shopping at Armani. The whole friendship between Justin and Aziz is certainly one of the more hilarious aspects the show has going, which is unfortunately looking about over. One thing that hopefully didn’t slip by anyone is the Duke Silver reference. We haven’t seen any more of Swanson’s top-secret jazz life, so it was nice to see it mentioned.
I was really glad to see Parks back from what I thought was its first disappointing week all season. Mostly each episode has been very consistent and continues to get better and better each week. Parks and Rec is at its best when every character becomes a factor, and it was pretty even in every direction here. The writing (and acting) have set up connections and character depth worth investing in, alongside the hilarious jokes and situations that come with it.
