Starbucks Caramel Brulee Latte

Standing around and making others “specialty” coffees at work is boring. So boring in fact that I forgot to grab myself a pick me up this morning. After coming to this realization at five in the afternoon, I decided not to go for the usual. I wanted to see how the pros do it at a real coffee house. Or Starbucks.

So I was rushed with caffeine, because you know I just had to go for the free extra shot of expresso in my venti. I was left dazed for hours wondering what a brulee actually was. Using my friend the internet, I came to the conclusion it is either ladies loungewear or just a fancy name for a type of custard.

The caramel brulee latte is a rich caramel dessert espresso-based coffee topped with whipped cream and caramelized sugar. The coffee itself was sweet in taste and rich with caramel flavor. The whip was nice and fluffy. I found the sugar pieces to be more of a topping topping more than anything. They just sit on top of the whip cream, giving it that holiday sparkle, but serve no other practical purpose.

I really enjoyed the coffee as a change from the norm, but I couldn’t drink this every day. It left me in too much of a cheery mood. Not saying that it is a bad thing, but one can only be cheery for so much of a day before it starts to feel like insanity. The tall is $3.45, grande is $4.25, and lastly the venti sits up at $4.55. It is a little more expensive than the other “specialty” coffees out there, but it’s only gonna be here for a limited time.

So if you’re out and in the holiday spirit, shopping and need to refuel, stop in at a Starbucks and pick one up for yourself. But be warned it will throw you into full-fledged holiday mode.

McDonald’s McCafe Iced Mocha

I'm not a big coffee guy, myself, but if I were, I'd go for something cold and sweet like this McDonald's McCafé Iced Mocha that David seems to enjoy. Alas, I am not, so I'm relegated to posting the review and wondering how it...

  1. >I just happened to try the caramel brulee latte for something different. (I'm a die hard white mocha gal.) I LOVED IT! I have been going to different locations in Sac. to see if they still have it! Even trying on line to buy the syrup, but, no luck! Bring it back!

  2. >I was searching in google to see if this latte was a limited time deal, and stumbled across this post. so sad that it is- it really DOES somehow lift your spirits! I do have a secret for you- when I first went to order it and it wasn't available yet, a barista made me her own interpretation of the beverage and it was really, really close! you can always order a skinny caramel latte- 1 pump caramel, 3 pumps hazelnut, whipped cream and caramel topping. delicious!
