As I’ve mentioned before, I work at a grocery store. Yeah, sucks, but it’s a great way to find new food products. So one day when I was refilling milks next to the Jell-O puddings and whatnot, I saw a fancy looking little sign with the word Mousse in large letters, accompanied by a picture of three spoons containing what looked like exquisite spoonfuls of tri-flavored deliciousness. I investigated further, but couldn’t find the products Jell-O was advertising, so I forgot about them. Then one day a fellow employee came to pay for her groceries, which included a pack of Mousse Temptations.
I picked up a pack before heading home. The packaging actually looks really nice and classy, which made me wanna buy it even more. On the package, it says that each cup contains only 60 calories, which is actually surprisingly low. I think; I don’t often eat Mousse, and even less often check the nutritional information when I do. Either way, right on the box it says, “65% fewer calories than (“)average regular(“) mousse”. I put those quotes there because I don’t feel that the caloric content or definition of average regular mousse is common knowledge, which leaves it vague enough that it could mean anything. But I digress.
The Chocolate Indulgence flavor of these mousse cups is actually pretty fantastic. They have an intense chocolate flavor that is the perfect amount of rich, and really stays with you. The mousse is light and fluffy and airy, yet dense enough to be of a satisfying substance. You really can’t tell by taste that these are sugar free, and usually I can tell that. One of the best parts of eating this is swooshing it around in your mouth and feeling all the little air bubbles burst.
With a price of about $3, this isn’t too bad a buy. It’d be nice if it was a bit cheaper, but hey, it’s pretty fancy. So fancy they even call it Mousse Temptations by Jell-O. Like it’s a performance or a novel or something. Here’s the real test to see if it’s classy enough: Set up a nice candlelight dinner with your significant other, then for dessert, bust out two of these. If she/he gets pissed, you failed, Jell-O. Either way, these taste great, and I would actually go out of my way to try the other flavors, if my store had ‘em.

Mousse is a great product for humans. Keep away from pets since it contains Xylitol and it is deadly. Dogs absorb the xylitol quickly, and causes an insulin release and sudden drop in their blood sugar. It leads to liver failure, bleeding and death.
I tried it…. a bit pricey, and lacks excitement! Rather boring. I threw away the entire package after only 1 cup.
Reluctant to try it after reading comments below. Also, completely turned off by the new Temptations commercial that shows parents traumatizing their little girl with a scary story to keep her away from their oh so important dessert! Seriously, Jell-o?
