For as long as I can remember, my Mom’s been a huge Twizzlers fan, so I basically grew up eating them. I ate other stuff, too, in case you were wondering, but that’s not important right now. I just found out that Hershey’s owns Twizzlers… that’s kinda weird. But I’ve been there through all the varieties: Straws, Pull ‘n Peel, Bites and Nibs, which were exactly the damn same, and even Twerpz, the bite-size Twizzlers “filled with a tangy, fruit-flavored chew”. Apparently they decided to expand on that idea; during a recent Walgreens trip, I picked up a bag of these Twizzlers Sweet and Sour Filled Twists without even realizing they were new, thinking back vaguely to my experience with the Twerpz.
Now, Twerpz only had two flavors, Strawberry and Orange. Twizzlers Sweet and Sour Filled Twists only come in two flavors as well – Cherry Kick and Citrus Punch. So at least one of them is not as easily pigeonholed and straight-forward as Strawberry or Orange. Obviously, Citrus Punch is the more sour one, and Cherry Kick is the sweeter of the two, if that’s even how it works. Either way, the tangy fruit-flavored chew is definitely tangy, no matter the flavor. The texture is really cool, too. The outside feels like a normal Twizzler, albeit a bit thinner, and the inside is really soft and malleable, making for a pleasant chewing experience, for me at least.
Cherry Kick is basically just a really strong cherry flavor, a bit tangier than your average cherry item, but hey that’s in the product description. Citrus Punch is a bit more broad of a flavor, a lot more sour than cherry, and a bit of a better one, for me. With Citrus Punch you’re getting a blend of flavors. It’s Key Lime Pie and Lemonade all in one bite. Each twizzler is about seven inches in length, and about a centimeter thick, and for some reason they kinda smell like Play-Doh. And it actually looks a little like one of the shapes you could use that little Play-Doh machine to squeeze out. I was pretty satisfied with these, the taste of both flavors was intense and enjoyable, and it was under $2, so no complaints here. Give ‘em a try.

MMMMM Play-Doh scented food!… yuckyy!
