How can you not love a Slurpee? It’s a cool icy drink that has so damn many flavor combinations that they’re practically endless. They’re also quite perfect in the typically hot Florida weather I live in. Sometimes they come out so terrible, like Monster Black Ice, but other times they’re meant to be like Cherry, or Coke, or Cherry Coke, even. The latest flavor Is Melon Berry Blast, which been brought to us by Pepsi. The brilliant experts at their marketing department gave this drink the unique slogan, “Enjoy a sweet & sour splash in the mouth.” First of all, no product should ever have anything that ends with “…in the mouth,” it’s a pretty unfortunate wording choice, and also a totally redundant one. Unless there is some sort of other way I could enjoy this Slurpee that I don’t know about.
Awful taglines aside, this drink is actually pretty damn good. It’s a light melon-y flavor that’s a whole lot more like a sweet candy than anything else. It wasn’t very sour and what was there seemed to fade away as the drink melted. The berry flavor promised is also not very strong, but is a nice compliment to the melon. It’s really easy to drink, refreshing and I still wanted more after a whole cup. Because of how light it is, drinking a whole cup of only this flavor is almost kinda boring, and should probably be mixed with an other flavor for best results, but after all that’s how all good Slurpees are made anyways.
