Normally I only drink water. Water, water, water. From large cups of it to small bottles of it, and even out of a fountain for drinking when the time comes. It’s just refreshing, healthy, and I can’t really explain more than that why I prefer it. The first time I ever had a Dr. Pepper was in 11th grade after asking a kid wearing an “I’m a Pepper” T-Shirt if that soda was, “..even any good.” Big mistake; Pepper fans sure love their Doctor and his 32 ingredients. I was slightly impressed then, and from my time drinking it have always kind of thought there was cherry in the soda anyways. Well as Brad said, you can take it off the list of possible 23 ingredients, because when you add cherry to Dr. Pepper you get a whole new kind of soda.
Out comes a soda that almost feels out of place not inside of a champagne glass. Boasting the tag-line “Amazingly Smooth” across it’s classy black label, take a sip of this and you’ll agree it’s well deserved. Mason thinks cherry is the missing ingredient to Dr. Pepper. With what can only be assumed to be magic, the cherry flavoring seems to reduce the strength of the carbonation, having much less bite than the classic soda. It’s not anything even close to flat, but has much less sharp carbonation bite. The Cherry flavor itself is a very good maraschino juice taste, and the soda has a good amount of flavoring too. Not to mention enough red dye in it to make the soda and foam have a very bloody hue.
It’s got a diet version, which I’m sure anyone who loves diet soda will like, and I easily found a 2 liter of it at WalMart, so it’s easy to find. The combinations of these flavors are so obvious, it’s such a surprise that they’re just bottling them now. Seems like they would have been doing this for years in diners and such places that have the option to flavor a soda. When you try it, it’s clear that the Dr. has been drawing inspiration though, because this reminds me a lot of those old style drinks. I mostly don’t even like soda, and have drank much more of the 2 liter than I expected. I tried to find some reason that this drink isn’t fantastic (beside the obvious fact that it’s not so good for you), and I can’t. I’m just gonna go drink more of it.

>Finally somebody recognizes the amazingness of this drink.Definitely my all time favorite so far!
>I tend to drink too much soda (diet of course) & my fav is diet cherry pepsi. I tried the diet cherry Dr Pepper & it is just as yummy. I think I have a thing for the taste of cherry. LOL
>Can’t find it. Tried 5 different stores in the Dallas area tonight before giving up.
>Sorry to hear that, Michael. We just raided our local walmart and plundered out with it.
>Michael – check out your local Target stores, they should have it in the Dallas market.
>The only difference I can tell on this is that its red and its less fizzy. The red color does not seem to be due to any cherry flavoring, as there is no listing for this at all. But it does list Red Die #40. I cant tell any flavor difference at all.
>They don’t ever list ALL of the flavors in Dr. Pepper. Cherry, Carrot and Prune re all in the list of flavors in the drink, but none of them are found anywhere on the bottle. My assumption is that they just upped the ratio that’s already in the mix of Dr.
>Dr. Pepper rules. So does this review. It deserves the Pulitzer.
>Thanks Anonymous, I wish you were on the committee for nominees.
>yep i’ve never been to this site, but i just bought some of this at walmart, a whole 12 pack, I hope it’s good, im afraid i might be let down though because at sonic’s you can get a cherry dr pepper and it’s ridiculously good! The review is well written though!-Fuzzy
>”Seems like they would have been doing this for years in diners and such places that have the option to flavor a soda.” Some people have indeed been doing just that for decades. In my small town in central Texas, I’ve always been able to order a cherry Dr Pepper (with a squirt of cherry sno-cone syrup) at the movie theater or the drugstore soda fountain, and it was always a favorite. And yes, I’ve long wondered why the company never bottled something similar. — Tony
>It has hit Michigan in 2 liter and 12 pk cans (I found at Target; haven’t seen it in others yet). It is as the review states: hard to find something not to like about it. It belongs in a champagne glass. I call it “sex in a can/bottle.”
>First time i’ve visited this site and have to agree with every word you’ve written. I just drank one and it’s fantastic.
>well lucky you!! Here in Hawaii i can’t find one bottle or can of this anywhere. In fact I’ve just seen teh sunkist Orange float for the first time but no root beer float to be found
>It tastes like Cheerwine.
>It is the best tasting soda to out there!! Cherry pepsi is next in line and then cherry coke.
>I am one of the monority in Europe that like Dr Pepper. Its very hard to get in Ireland (Where I live), I ordered this off a site "yankeesoda"love it. Wish it was more widely available over here.
I'm glad I can get this at my local Asian supermarket here in Sydney, Australia. I just had my first can (only bought the one to try, along with some other imports) and I quite liked it.
The poster that thinks there is no difference in taste is probably not a true Dr. Pepper drinker. My first impression was that it (Cherry Dr. Pepper) tastes almost exactly like Mr. Pibb. Definitely less carbonation . . .
They did have a cherry Dr. Pepper about 7-10 years ago called red something or other, but both taste so good. I think there are not too many more places remaining that sell them here in the Central Valley, but when I do find, I enjoy every minute of it.
