Unfortunately the recession has hit most people, and like most people the Aqua Teens need some money. They’re at a dump, using Frylocks plan of redeeming cans for their 5 cent trade in value. Shake, being the awesome optimist he is, is off looking for jewels, a much better thing to look for. Meatwad is off to the side, chain smoking cigs in one drag. He’s not sure when he started but he’s sure he can not stop; it’s like a meal on a little paper stick, so why would you want to? Next thing we know Shake finds a Peppermint Schnapps bottle. He shakes around (revealing how he got his name) and ends up breaking it. Turns out it contains an Alcoholic Genie named Gene. Huh.
So after coming home with the Aqua Teens, Gene raids their fridge for their beer and Meatwad’s sausage he was saving for his birthday. Only because he needs protein to grant wishes though. The first wish to be granted is from Shake, the second from Meatwad, who wishes he was Zack from the Suite Life of Zack and Cody on Nickelodeon. Well turns out that he only knows how to make everything invisible, and is a really bad genie overall. Shake unsurprisingly accidently kills him, and then all of a sudden a tiny Carl walks into their living room.
According to LibelTree.com, Genies turn someone into a Genie so they can drink together, because alcoholism is hereditary in their species. So tiny Carl is a genie, and off with Shake trying to spy on a women’s bathroom. With Shake’s brilliance, he flushes Carl down the toilet, and when he get’s back home, learns that Carl is their only chance to get visible. They find him washed up half dead in a sewer somewhere, and since no one wants to give him mouth to mouth, they just decide to stay invisible, and that’s it.
As many people know this show can go extremely overboard sometimes, but this episode was a good mix of semi-weird. I loved hearing tiny Carl’s voice yelling, and I loved how Shake managed to kill 2 people and make a hair drier into a basketball hoop. It’s really hard to get over the fact that you only see the characters visible for less than half the show, must of been easy for the animators. Some points in this episode are literally just backgrounds with voiceovers, but it’s good to see that the show can still manage to be funny with just character voices and a good script. It can also help people who hate the show, (like Matt, like seriously) to get over the absurdity of the characters being fast food items, and get a sense of the show’s humor. It’s a really good episode overall, but with the few visual gags in the episode being so funny, it’s really strange they only chose to go with a few.
