Pringles Extreme

Blazin’? Seriously? The buffalo wing flavor of these chips was mediocre at best; it’s possible that I got a bad tube (can?), but the chips I ate had a hint of wing sauce zing. It wasn’t the full-blown flavor explosion that you get from its brethren snacks, and it was far from blazin’. I wouldn’t even call these flamin’, or burnin’, or even smokin’. They taste closer to salt and vinegar Pringles, which is fine with me, but it’s not what’s advertised. Turn the heat up and then I’ll chew.

These are easy. Imagine sitting at your favorite steakhouse or burger joint and you order the super bacon double with everything on it. As a side dish, you opt for the usual – homemade steakhouse fries. You know what I’m talking about. The long, skinny brown delights that are perfectly seasoned and very obviously cut fresh right in the kitchen.

Once that plate hits the table, your burger and fries will be accompanied by a fat, juicy pickle. The green beast is oozing with a light juice that trickles around the edges of your plate, soaking your burger bun and the bottom layer of fries in sour, zesty liquid. Eventually you make your way down to the bottom-feeders, and you’re left with an ultimatum – eat ‘em or don’t. If you can dig on the flavors of a french fry dipped in pickle juice, you’ll enjoy these as much as I did. If not, move along.

I forgot to mention that before you ate that massive burger, you ordered an appetizer. You’re a hungry fella; what can I say? They didn’t have the blooming onion you wanted (those bastards) so you chose the jalapeño poppers instead. Great job! Or so you’d think, until you find out that they’re not of the delicious cream-cheese filled variety. These poppers are stuffed with cheddar, and regardless of my personal preferences regarding breaded jalapeño bites, they’re extremely good.

At first taste, the chips have an overwhelming cheddar explosion, but as it subsides, the jalapeño radiates throughout your mouth and tingles the taste buds. It’s amazing how Pringles managed to nail the cheesepeñio flavor combo, let alone any of the combinations they’ve attempted. Eating these flat round crispies is an experience that can be likened to chewing the foods they’re named after.

They’re artificially delicious.
