Daytrotter

Constantly trying to find the latest and greatest in music like my good friend Brad Cook? Like me, do you love hearing the sounds of bands like Vampire Weekend and Delta Spirit? Is free mp3s from over 300 bands something you’d want? Of course you do, because free mp3s is one of the greatest things ever. The perfect site to give you these amazingly free goods is Daytrotter.com.

Hopefully the horse logo and title don’t throw you off, because it’s not a polo forum or a horse-race betting page. In fact, it has nothing to do with horses whatsoever. It IS one of the best pages on the net to find the next big thing. Meaning, for lots of you, bands you’ve never heard of. But with such a huge catalog, and four songs per band, if you like music that can fall into the genre of Rock, you’re bound to find something you’ll like.

Daytrotter holds what they call “sessions.” For those of you who aren’t familiar with this term, it’s a live performance, but not for an audience. Everything is then mic’d and equalized and recorded straight from the soundboard, to ensure the best sound quality available, and it’s one of the best ways to hear a band the first time. Because after all, a band is only as good as they can play live.

Daytrotter held their first session in March of ’06 and held them every week constantly for a year. By that time it gained enough popularity for them to update with a set every day. Their has been some exceptions, but for the most part, you can go to Daytrotter.com everyday and get four new songs, and to me, that’s amazing. And face it, after you’ve read all of our reviews, the internet can get quite boring. You can fill your iPod for free, read full articles on each band available, and find the latest tour dates with ease. With their ever expanding back catalogue, Daytrotter will keep you entertained for hours.

Goozex Site Review

Goozex

Goozex is a video game trade-in site that uses a point system, and frankly, sounds a bit more fair than trade-ins at Gamestop. At the very least, you'll leave with more than a few ones and some change for your $60 game.
