Let me be the first to say that I am a huge fan of zombie movies, viral outbreaks and the threat of an apocalyptic end. That being said, I feel I should start off by saying Doomsday was a complete mess. The film was directed by Neil Marshall; other work of his includes cult hit Dog Soldiers and one of my personal favorites: The Descent. Don’t let this fool you though; Doomsday shares no style with either of these movies. The story falls along the same lines of many of its fellow “B” Movie predecessors. Contain the outbreak just long enough to eliminate it, unoriginal and cliché. The plot shares more of a resemblance to Swiss cheese and the genre of the film seems to change radically after every scene.
One scene you are watching a slew of tatt-ed up gang members and the next looks like something out of Lord of The Rings. Oddly enough this film does contain a few crowd-pleasers. The amount of explosions and gunfire is enough for even the biggest action aficionado, and the gore is something that George A. Romano would be impressed by.
Overall I would say that this is movie is fun as hell but nothing more, the characters are broad and the plot is nothing to be taken seriously. Other than the visual effects this movie is very lackluster, and in my opinion feels like an hour and a half of pointless death and destruction. But hey, what’s wrong with that? You certainly could not expect much more from a movie with a title like Doomsday.

>Seems like the 7/7 score is a mistake seeing as much of the review was slating the film! haven’t seen it personally but judging by the trailers and other reviews i wouldn’t have expected this to get full marks anywhere! The Descent is a wicked film tho!
>Thanks for pointing that out… it’s definitely not supposed to be a seven haha. And the Descent blew my mind
